Glossary
Product and layout terms
- Template: the reusable product configuration customers interact with
- Component: a window, door, panel, or separator inside a template
- Layout: the structural arrangement of rows, columns, and components
- Row: a container that places children side by side
- Column: a container that stacks children vertically
- Separator: the dividing line used for resizing sections
- Section: a user-facing part of the layout during configuration
- Frameless: a layout mode where the outer framing treatment changes
- Constraint: a limit such as minimum or maximum width
- Fixed size: a dimension that is locked instead of flexible
- Percentage sizing: proportional sizing relative to sibling sections
- Opening: the overall space the product needs to fit into
- Slug: the URL-friendly identifier used in a page address
Component type terms
- F: fixed
- TT: tilt-turn
- T: turn
- V: tilt
- K: tilt toplight
- A: awning
- SD: sliding door
- DD: Dutch door
Finish and product terms
- Profile: the frame or sash system forming the product structure
- Profile system: the specific frame system or product family you manufacture with
- Material: a finish or product-surface choice used in the configurator
- Color: a selectable finish color, often split by side
- Inside color: the finish shown on the interior-facing side
- Outside color: the finish shown on the exterior-facing side
- Bicolor: different inside and outside colors
- Bilateral: the same color or treatment on both sides
- RAL color: a standardized color reference commonly used in Europe
- Seal color: the gasket or sealing color used with the frame system
- Threshold: the lower transition at a door opening
Glass and security terms
- Double glazing: an insulated glass unit with two panes
- Triple glazing: an insulated glass unit with three panes
- HR++: a Dutch high-insulation glass label, described in the product as High Performance
- Low-E coating: a coating that helps improve insulation performance
- Argon fill: argon gas between panes to improve insulation
- Laminated glass: safety glass made from layered bonded sheets
- Tempered glass: toughened safety glass
- Solar control glass: glass designed to reduce solar gain
- Warm edge spacer: an insulating spacer between panes
- RC1 / RC2: resistance classes used for security performance
- WK1 / WK2: German security class terminology, paired with RC1/RC2 as equivalent classifications
Commercial and quoting terms
- Submission: the structured request a customer sends after configuring
- Quote: the commercial offer created from a submission
- Line item: one priced row in a quote
- Subtotal: the amount before tax
- Tax rate: the percentage applied on top of the subtotal
- Validity: how long the quote remains actionable
- Version: a saved revision of a quote over time
- Reference: an internal or commercial identifier attached to a quote
- Pricing rule: the logic used to calculate price
- Calculation type: the pricing formula category, such as area or running meter
- Running meter: perimeter- or length-based pricing
- Tiered area: area-based pricing with different rates at different thresholds
- Per unit: pricing based on quantity
Platform terms
- Dashboard: the organization user's home page in WinFactor
- Public page: the customer-facing organization page
- Quote link: a secure URL where a customer reviews and responds to a quote
- ActivePieces: the automation platform used for WinFactor events and workflows
